#GiveDivasAChance?

Wrestlemania 31 has come and gone, and the 'Showcase of the Immortals' certainly had some history making moments. Daniel Bryan captured his first Intercontinental Championship, WCW icon Sting made his WWE debut, and Seth Rollins successfully cashed in his Money In The Bank Contract to become the new WWE World Heavyweight. However, something that no one will remember was the Divas tag team match, which pitted AJ Lee and Paige against The Bella Twins, but it was in no way their fault.
In the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania 31 it was being labelled as a four-hour spectacular, not including the two hour pre-show. However, of those four hours, the divas match was only afforded seven minutes.
Seven minutes? What happened to #GiveDivasAChance?
Don't get me wrong, this wasn't a bad match, and to their credit the women did the best they could with such a short time frame. It's just that AJ Lee, Paige and The Bella Twins deserved more than seven minutes at Wrestlemania. What's more, the fact that UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, who I'm sure one day will be a WWE Diva, had more air time than these four women is a joke, and a slap in the face to women's wrestling. Even worse, the promo was a complete waste of time and achieved absolutely nothing.
AJ Lee and Paige are great wrestlers, and The Bella Twins have been improving considerably, especially Nikki who in my opinion has to be one of the most improved superstars on the roster. I am certain had they been given 10 more minutes (which they easily could have found, but that's another issue) they would have been able to put on a great match.
If you want proof of how good women's wrestling can be, all you have to do is look at NXT and see what happens when women are given a decent amount of time to work with. Having women like Charlotte, Bayley and Sasha Banks waiting in the wings, the future of women's wrestling in the WWE looks very bright.
However, as long as Vince McMahon is still running the WWE, it looks very unlikely that the Divas division will be given the respect it deserves. As CM Punk said during his infamous 'Pipe-Bomb', maybe the WWE will be better after Vince McMahon is dead. However, hopefully his doofus son-in-law will continue the great work he's been doing down on NXT and bring it to the main roster.
