"The Babadook" by Craig Duffy

Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman

6/10

Plot: A widowed single mother (Essie Davis) battles with her son's (Noah Wiseman) fear of a monster lurking in their house.

The Babadook is the definition of a psychological horror. It was a very original idea, and I was definitely not expecting a movie like this from an Australian film. It was an expertly acted, well made, genuine horror movie with many chilling and disturbing scenes, and did not rely on cheap jump scares. Personally, I don't enjoy watching horror movies, which is why I only rated this 6/10. If you a are looking for a high quality horror movie, The Babadook is a breath of fresh air in the monotonous horror genre, and I would highly recommend it.
