It feels like the WWE have reverted back to their old ways with a poor edition of Smackdown. After two good weeks, it was very disappointing to see an episode that did little to further any storylines. There were plenty of matches, however none of them were given enough time to produce anything of any quality. As a result there is little to discuss about this edition of Smackdown.
The issues between Gold and Stardust continued to rise as they lost yet again. This was a decent match where Ziggler and Ryback were able to have some fun, but that was about it.
Dean Ambrose was pitted against Curtis Axel, and the pair were able to put a fast paced match together. The segment ended with a victorious Ambrose being told by Bad News Barrett that he would not be getting a title shot, although we all know he will.
If you watched this week's edition of Superstars, you may be suffering from déjà vu. Fandango and Rose put on nearly identical matches on both shows. The difference was that on Smackdown they were given a much shorter period of time, and the final product suffered. After the many failed attempts at Rose's heel turn I believe the WWE will soon pull the plug on this character and re-brand him, possibly more in the light of his Leo Kruger character.
Rusev sent a message to John Cena with a victory over Erick Rowan. This was a fun match while it lasted, but once again, none of the superstars had enough time to put on a match worth watching.
Paige's recent face turn has seen her become somewhat of an anti-hero to the WWE Universe. It is a character that she plays very well, and works perfectly whilst feuding with The Bella Twins. Her character development is the only thing worth mentioning after this episode as her match against Alicia Fox suffered from time constraints.
Miz TV
This edition of Smackdown was heavily based around Miz TV, with guests Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns. The Miz has been playing his character fantastically as of late, and has the entire WWE Universe eagerly waiting for his rivalry with Mizdow to start. Back to tonight's action, and since the WWE have scrapped the Cena-like jokes from Reigns' promos, he has returned to being a straight-talking juggernaut, and have seen great results. This segment was no different as Reigns was much more comfortable on the microphone. Ultimately the segment lead to a poor match between The Miz and Roman Reigns, as well as the main event of Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins and J&J Security in a 3 On 1 Handicap Match.
The main event was by far the best match of the night. However, on a night filled with poor matches, that isn't saying much. After an exciting finish to an average match, Daniel Bryan was attacked by Kane, Rollins, and J&J Security. The episode ended after a 4 on 1 beat down, and an emphatic Curb Stomp delivered to a defenceless Daniel Bryan.
The tone for Daniel Bryan's road to Wrestlemania has been set, and he is once again the ultimate underdog, battling against The Authority every step of the way. This match capped off a poor episode of Smackdown which hardly advanced any story lines.
